A: Dan and Lori Storey, Brandon's parents, developed the idea after the unexpected death of their son who loved to help congnitively disabled students. With encouragement from local educators, the Storey's, using cash memorials received from Brandon's funeral, decided to start a financial aid foundation that would provide funds and or equipment to local school programs designed to help Special Education students prepare for the social challenges facing them after graduation.

A: Since the foundation relies solely upon tax deductible donations from community members and businesses, its future is dependent on their continuing generosity, along with special fund raising events such as the annual "BAS Ride" bike ride. Although BAS's capital is currently small in terms of established foundations, it is hoped that as initial donations continue to be received, that the foundation can at some point in the future, near self sufficiency.
