After the unexpected death of Brandon, the BAS Foundation was formed to provide financial assistance to Special Education Students and Programs. A cause Brandon believed in.

With your support of our annual fund raiser - BAS Ride/Walk, we have managed to raise funds to support programs such as:

Project A.S.S.E.T. (Acquire Skills for Successful Employment Today). BAS provided funds for a trip to Chicago. The goal of this trip was to provide Special Education Students an opportunity to experience the following:
1. How to plan for a trip.
2. How to gather and organize information on a place to visit.
3. How to use public transportation.
4. How to buy items and count change.
5. How to be aware of strangers.
6. How to use leisure time as others would.

This grant provided an opportunity for 23 students and 16 mentors, to take the Amtrak train to Chicago. While in Chicago activities included a boat ride around the Chicago harbor and visits to the Field Museum, Planetarium, and Aquarium.

Additionally, a cash donation was made to the Cognitively Disabled Program at Greenfield High School to purchase equipment for the Student Store. The CD students use the store to practice future employment and daily living skills while providing a service to the rest of the school students.

• A 1999 BAS Grant was provided for the purchase of Alpha Smart 2000 equipment. Students use the Alpha Smart for note taking and daily assignments. Due to cognitive and physical limitations, many students in special education experience great difficulty with speed of writing and legibility. Notes need to be taken at a rapid speed. Assignments require a neat appearance in order to earn passing grades. The Alpha Smart enables students to achieve these goals.

• A cash donation was made to Camp Hope. A weekend camp for children and teenagers who are mourning the death of a loved one. Camp Hope designs projects to promote discussion of loved ones who have died.

• A 2000 BAS cash donation was granted to Muskego High School for the purchase of vocational development equipment. This grant will create a more productive academy arena using stimuli.

• Further contrubutions were made to area high schools to support special education programs.

• A scholarship fund was established to award a $500 scholarship to a Greenfield High School graduating senior.

• A $1000 contribution was made to the Greenfield Fire Department to sponsor fire awareness in our school systems.

• A $1000 contribution was made to the Greenfield Police Department.
